The Sheffield Way Relay is an annual team race organised by the Steel City Striders (Running Club) in September. The Sheffield Way is a circular route of 46.4 miles which roughly follows the perimeter of Sheffield. The relay splits the route into 5 legs of around 10 miles each, finishing at the Canal Basin near the old Don Valley Stadium. Click here to visit the Striders SWR page

Notes

The following routes were updated 26/9/23 following the race which took place on 17/9/23. I’ve done my best to make this page as accurate as possible, however, there are often path closures and route changes. Therefore, please check with the Striders for the definitive routes or route changes.

  • 2021 Leg 4 was modified due to path closures (tree felling)
  • 2022 leg started at Weedon Street due to the canal basic being closed
  • 2023 leg 3 ended at Redmires due to Wyming Brook being closed

The following routes are the normal or traditional routes assuming no path closures.

SWR Leg 1 – 15.4km / 413m – Canal Basin to Greno Woods

Leg 2 – 15.4km / 468m – Greno Woods to the bottom of Wyming Brook

Leg 3 – 14.5km / 358m – Wyming Brook to Moss Rd / Lane Head Rd

Leg 4 – 14.9km / 314m – Moss Rd / Lane Head Rd to Bridge Inn

Leg 5 – 15.2km / 323m – Bridge Inn to Canal Basin
