The primary school cross-country season is due to begin on Saturday 28th September 2024 at High Hazell’s Park.
The 23/24 cross country season for Dore Primary School will be coordinated by Chris Day & Zoe Poonawala. Most of the communication will be done through a WhatsApp group – get in touch to be added and feel free to contact us with any questions
Race day
The race calendar is below. Look for the Dore Praimry School flag where we’ll meet and give the children a school vest to wear.
If you’re new to the Primary XC, this is normally the order of events:
- Meet at the Dore Primary School flag before 9.30 and get your vest (all the schools will be near each other and have flags so it’s not always easy to find!)
- Add your child’s name to the sheet on the clipboard
- Walk the course with the kids – normally about 9.30. We’ll try to do this in a group.
- Kids get into their starting pen in a school group in good time for the start of their race
- At the finish, the kids go down a funnel and receive a cloakroom ticket with their finish position
- Mark your finish place on the sheet on the clipboard. We’ll get the results to the organiser after the race
Unless otherwise noted in the race calendar, the races start at the following times.
- 10:00am Y3/Y4 Girls (course distance range 800m – 1500m)
- 10:10am Y3/Y4 Boys (course distance range 800m – 1500m)
- 10:20am Y5/Y6 Girls (course distance range 1600m – 2000m)
- 10:35am Y5/Y6 Boys (course distance range 1600m – 2000m)
It’s best to get there at least 45 minutes before the start of the race. Parking is not always easy so be sure to allow plenty of extra time for this and finding the flag.
Please also remember your children are your responsibility thorughout the event – it’s not a ‘drop off / pick up’ event.
